About Experimental Game

Experimental Game GmbH was established 2010 in Potsdam, Germany. We are currently focused on the development and market launch of a new kind of process management tool for producing interactive episodic concepts, called Gamebook Technology. This product makes allows publishers, television broadcasters and TV studios for the first time to create a practical and economically feasible content link between books, TV programs and games. Gamebook Technology makes it possible to transfer analog formats quickly and cost-effectively into the digital world.

Experimental Game unites employees from the fields of producing, programming, game design, storytelling and art design in a highly efficient team.

Art Director

 

Experimental Game is currently looking for an Art Director to join and expand our Berlin team. We want you to coordinate and drive the visual direction of our very own technology for the production of episodic games as well as projects based on it. If you like to work very hands-on and also have a good technical background, read on!

  • Work together with our UX/UI specialists and define the look and feel of a tool that hasn’t been done before: our Gamebook Technology.
  • Help craft and design the art pipeline that is linked with the Gamebook Technology. As we’re navigating uncharted territory, it’s one more chance to leave your mark and rethink how interactive content can be made.
  • Help define the visual style for the projects we’re developing based on the Gamebook Technology! The spectrum may range from a stylized comic look (see Genius & Evil) up to more abstract or realistic art an e-learning environment may require.
  • You will support the producer by helping devise and track the project art asset schedule.
  • A large part of our art assets is being produced by external graphics specialists and then integrated by our internal Technical Artists. As Art Director you’ll coordinate and steer the production of art assets, support the artists and help check the delivered assets to see if they adhere to the visual and technical guidelines.
  • You’ll provide concepts, storyboard, and overpaints, set high aesthetic standards and convey it through style guides.
  • You need to be able to asses which technical approach for an 2D/3D assets works best with the technology we’re working.

What we are looking for:

  • It’s a given that we’re looking for someone who improves our team with a high level of originality, creativity and the ambition to cover a wide range of styles and be experimental when necessary.
  • You’ll be driving our internal and external development of visual content as such need to be comfortable to work with a variety of people and communicate well.
  • You should have an excellent grasp of the technology beneath the art assets; you’re familiar with 3D graphics and also know your way around a tool like 3D Studio MAX, Maya, Zbrush, and Photoshop. If the situation requires it, you’re able to adapt or change an 3D asset yourself. Basically, you’re an Art Director that has a firm understanding of and basic skill set required for the daily business of a Tech Artist.
  • You have several years of experience in the games industry. If you’ve worked on animated series or movies or did jobs in advertising, that’s definitely a plus. But at the end of the day, we need to you be familiar with what’s required for interactive content.
  • You have a deeper knowledge of the Unity3D Engine and art-related specifics. Know-how regarding other game engines is a plus.
  • Good understanding of basic 3D and 2D design

Frontend Web Developer

Your skills and experience:

  • A degree in computer science or a similar field with professional experience
  • You are practical, dedicated and independent in your work and a convincing team player with good communication skills
  • Experience in software architecture, design and implementation of web applications
  • Solid knowledge in HTML5, CSS3 and object orientated JavaScript development
  • Practical experience with responsive design
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks. (AngularJS)
  • Experience with CSS pre processors (Less, Sass)
  • Experience with JavaScript paket manager software (npm, Bower)
  • Basic knowledge of tool like Grunt, Gulp, etc.
  • Experience with revision control software like git, Subversion, etc.

Preferable:

  • AngularJS project experience
  • Client side performance optimization
  • A good eye for UI/UX
  • Experience with Adobe CS

 

Student Employee Quality Assurance

We do have high requirements on our product and therefore we are looking for two work students to support the department of our quality assurance (QA) in Halle as of now. In the course of this, we cooperate closely with our laboratory in Berlin.

As part of our QA team you go about work with a high quality demand and test our product, the Gamebook Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • General QA work
  • Running tests using defined policies and test procedures
  • structured and understandable documentation of test results

  • Analytical, conceptual and imaginative thinking (It takes imagination to break/test something in unexpected ways!)

Business Development and Controlling Internship

What the intern is about:

  • Support in structuring market/competitor analysis
  • Support the design and development of our commercial model
  • Participate in improving the financial planning and our reporting
  • Participate in upcoming funding rounds
  • Assistance in BizDev and Controlling daily business (prepare presentations, decision papers, reportings)
